Not great literature by any means, but a gripping read! So gripping, in fact, that I abandoned everything this afternoon and sat down for several hours to finish it because I didn't want to put it down!

The one thing that annoyed me was ... well, I don't want to spoil it for any future readers, so I'll just say that in Part 4, chapter 11 the hero fails to reach a conclusion which leaps off the page at the reader and it narked me until he did eventually realise the obvious.
