"I wasn't doing any work that day, just catching up on my foot-dangling." Who cannot thrill to Chandler? A clever little story with an almost-twist at the end, and Chandler's mastery of simile. "Dead as a pickled walnut."? Fantastic!

A cool little noir story with all the villains and femme fatales one could ask for. But I think the cover, combined with the title, gives too much of the story away.
