A wishlist birthday pressie from my boy :o)

Amazon Product Description:

One May evening in London, as a result of a chance encounter and a split-second decision, the young climatologist Adam Kindred loses everything - home, job, reputation, passport, credit cards, money - never to get them back. With the police and a hit man in merciless pursuit, Adam has no choice but to go underground, joining the ranks of the disappeared, struggling to understand how his life has unravelled so spectacularly. His journey of discovery will take him along the Thames from Chelsea to the sink estates of the East End. On the way he encounters aristocrats, priests, prostitutes and a policewoman - but will he ever find himself again?

Really enjoyed this tale of a normal person getting caught up in murder and consipracy and as a consequence has to quickly drop out of society. The story is set in London and I liked how I could visualise (my version of) where the story was set. The charcters are likeable, or not, as they are meant to be and from the ending I have a slight inclination that Boyd could write a follow up to this novel as although the story was concluded, it didn't seem like a final ending. I hope not! I'd certainly read the follow up!

Taking along to the Uncon to pass onto Cinderess as I think she might like the London aspect to it. x

I really enjoyed this, liked the story and the style of writing. I thought the ending a bit abrupt, but think I'm often disappointed when I've really enjoyed a book. I probably subconsciously want it to carry on! Like Martha writes there could well be an opening for a sequel...

Ty for sharing your birthday book!
