Journal Entry 1 by wingLadyAmaliewing from Karlsruhe, Baden-Württemberg Germany on Sunday, August 1, 2010
In this "frighteningly addictive" paranormal romance saga, there's a war raging between vampires and their slayers. Here are the stories of a secret band of brothers like no other - six vampire warriors, defenders of their race. And now a dutiful twin must choose between tow lives ...

Although that is Phury’s story there is a lot more about John, Qhuinn, Blay and Lash, plus Rhevenge an Xhex. Their narratives were more interesting and exciting than Phury’s Wizard, his self-pity and the thoughts what he always did wrong or rather what is wrong in his life. The development of the whole story makes fun of more.

Got it! Packstation was full so the book took a detour to the Postoffice.
Looking forward to read it. Thanks again for sharing, LadyAmalie!

Hmm, I'm dissappointed where the author went with my favourite Brother. Without the Phury - Wizard - Cormia back-and-forth it would have been better. I enjoyed the Rhev/Xhex parts much more. Looking forward to read more about them.
I was amused that we now got a Frankenvamp, poison-fetischists and something called Lassiter, which was the title of some cheap western romance stuff I read when I was little (and worried my gran a lot because of the covers, you know, PMHR :)).
I groaned every time someone asked about Bella and her belly (which was quite a lot), characters acting plain stupid (which was unfortunately also a lot) and the really extensive product placement. So there were a lot of groans on my part.
Interesting bit: You can revive a starved vamp with a Happy Meal - and I mean not the one on two legs (see Buffy/Spike) :)
Memorable quote: "Get off the cross, someone else needs the wood."

--- Wow --- I'm still kind of "breathless". - So much happened in this one!
I was not too thrilled about the Wizard-stuff either and - as usual - the lessers' parts, but I think for the first time I found myself actually really interested in what happened around John, Blay and Qhuinn. I really like the development/direction of their story.

Thanks for the ray, LadyAmalie!

Waiting with a crowd of other books when I returned from holiday today! Thanks for sending, I look forward to reading the next in the series!

Journal Entry 11 by wingpenelopewanderswing at Hasliberg, Bern / Berne Switzerland on Saturday, August 27, 2011
SPOILER ALERT!!!

The spiral continues. In the previous book, I appreciated the vacation from the Lessers, but that holiday is over and in this one they are back in force.
Extremely action packed, this installment finally addresses Phury's addiction(s) and he begins addressing them himself.
As for the development with Lash, I couldn't help wondering how Ward does her writing - had she planned and built up to that betrayal from the beginning or did she just think it would add spice to throw in rivalry between the boys at the outset and then as the stories evolved realized how she could crank things up even more? I had wondered whether Qhuinn, with his "deformity" would prove to be the wolf in sheep's clothing, but the way his fate is resolved (for now) is quite satisfying.
Lash as Omega in training does certainly feel more evil and destructive than the elusive Omega was - although he has yet to be portrayed as a Trojan horse. This being said, those who have had glimpses of his new incarnation (Cormia, John) have yet to inform any others, so possibly in a future book he will try to fool the others that he's harmless??
As before, I tend to prefer the scenes with the Brotherhood, and even the Chosen, to those with the Lesser Society, but this was still a very good read.

Arrived here safely. Thanks again penelopewanders! Great timing too, as I just finished reading book 5 (will journal that later).. but there are still some bookrings ahead, so I will wait a bit (even though it's very tempting to continue with Phury's story :p).
Thank you for sharing this great series LadyAmalie :)

I finished this a couple days ago. On the one hand I really liked it, there were a lot of (new) things happening, but on the other hand.. there were things that annoyed me, like the Wizard stuff (where did that come from?), and the things Nachtgeier mentioned too. And of course the Lessers. It was much less (just) the story of Phury (who I really liked before.. but not so much here - until it got near the end), but more about the different characters and stuff happening in/around the Brotherhood. I especially liked the bits with John, Blay and Qhuinn. Hmm.. and I'm curious to see where the bits about Lassiter, Rhevenge & Xhex, and Lash will lead.

Will be sending the book to Esme-Weatherwax in a little while..

I liked this book better than the last one. I enjoyed how the over all story line developed at lot more than in the other books. Oddly the focus was not on Phury but on others. In fact I enjoyed the other story lines better than Phury's. I enjoyed the John Qhuinn, Blay and Lash story line the most. I also enjoyed the Rhevenge an Xhex story line as well. However as with the rest of the books it was a bit predictable in parts and I knew who the son was before it was reveled in the book.

WOW, this book got addicting way too quickly, but it took me too long to read it :( I liked hearing about Phury and what he's going through, and loved the last few chapters!

I also fell quickly in love with the Chosen Cormia, she was dainty, but in a perfect kind of way. Can't wait for the next book!

Shall be sending it off in the next week, hopefully :)
