I received it yesterday but didn't have time to journal it. Thanks kafka, and many thanks for the postcards (I love the one with the cactus).

I liked it. Very good suspense. One of those books that you cannot put down until you know what happens. So you end up going to bed at two in the morning and not doing all the things you were supposed to do during the weekend. Now that I finished reading it, I'll go do the dishes, the laundry, some cooking, etc.

In L.A. Cassie Black is another beautiful woman in a Porsche: except Cassie just did six years in prison and still has "outlaw juice" flowing in her veins. Now Cassie is returning to her old profession....But the perfect heist goesvery wrong, and suddenly Cassie is on the run...Between Cassie and the man hunting her are a few last secrets: like who really set up the job, why Cassie had to take the chance and how, in the end, it might all be a matter of the moon"

I finished this book last night, and thought it to be a terrific top-notch, hard-boiled thriller, that really captured my interest from the very first pages. This was my first time reading Connelly, and the descriptive writing and engaging characters I found in this book will make me search out more of his work. I think the blurb from "American Way" said it best:
"He makes the city and its tensions so palpable that the reader comes away convinced that when it comes to crime, L.A. is still the king."

Journal Entry 8 by BigrTex from Colorado Springs, Colorado USA on Thursday, February 3, 2005
Found the mailbox at our new house this morning and this book was already in there.

Amazon.com has been recommending that I try Connelly for awhile now, and between the reviews here (for this copy) and on Amazon (for this title), I thought I'd give it a try.

I really enjoyed this book. It was well plotted and flowed well. It held my attention, and was difficult to put down (or leave down) for most of the book. He gave us the information that we needed when we were looking for it, and everything fit together and felt right.

This was my first experience with Michael Connelly too, but I look forward to reading more by him.

It was so good that I don't want to hold on to it a minute longer than I have to. I offered it to nafyboocs this morning because it's on their wish list.

This book has made its way to South Carolina with about a gazillion other books (exact number!) from the ever-kind candi-eb. It will be released at one of our OBCZs as room appears on the shelf. I hope that previous readers will think about coming to visit Charleston in 2007 when the BookCrossing Convention is here!
