An incredible charater study. Who would think that we could come to care so much about an alcholic hobo. This is the first of three novels that profile Albany NY, in the midst of the depression.

A great read, so much going on "behind the scenes" and definately a book you need to digest as you read otherwise much will be missed.

Given the book at MEETUP, noticed Pulitzer Prize status and a baseball story right now looks inviting. Read previous journal entries and excited to find the setting is Albany NY....I'll be in that area this summer.
