Picked up from our first Coventry meet up in Central Methodist Hall Coventry City Centre. Will have to read it quickly as veganbob had his eye on it too!

I started off quite liking the main character Gordon; not warming to him, but thinking he was ok. However as the book progressed and you saw more of his life I started to realise he was a winger, who thought the world owed him a living. He was constantly borrowing money from his sister, and when he did get some money he squandered it totally.

It's a good book and well written, I just found my self not liking the main character.

However it is a good insight into London life in the 1930's
