Just got this budgie-bitten book in the mail today, and am already half-way through.

Pratchett is hilarious, as usual. Mort looks like a fun hapless hero. Poor Death is feeling feelings... Is Ysabell is any other book?

I think I'll attach a label to the book -- I am paranoid the card with the BCID will get lost in transit.

Journal Entry 4 by Earthdance from Winnipeg, Manitoba Canada on Thursday, July 10, 2003
I've read 19 of the books and haven't come across Ysabell in any other then Mort, unfortunatly! But ofcourse, there is ALWAYS Death. And the occasional Albert.

I just got the book in the mail today. I'm gonna start reading it ASAP, but since it's the second ring I received this week, I'm gonna have to finish the first one before reading it.

Will update my thoughts later!

Thanks for doing this ring!

I finished Mort today. It was my first Pratchett and I must say that I'm looking forward to read more of his Discworld series! Funny book. It took me only two days to read...
Now I'm gonna send it to the next on the list... but where can I find the list ?

Full marks for this Discworld Novel!
Death is my favourite character, but I really enjoyed the descriptions of Mort, Ysabell and all the others as well. Of course, one of the things not to be missed are the footnotes and the cross-referring within footnotes - Pratchett is a master at this!

Here's a nice passage that will possibly be proved right tomorrow morning after tonight's party...:

"There should be a word for that brief period just after waking when the mind is full of warm pink nothing. You lie there entirely empty of thought, except for a growing suspicion that heading towards you, like a sockful of damp sand in a nocturnal allleyway, are all the recollections you'd really rather do without (...)"

Release planned for Sunday, October 12, 2003 at mailed to a fellow bookcrosser in Gelsenkirchen, Nordrhein-Westfalen Germany.

I've already read the Comic by Graham Higgins, so I was eager to read the novel. And I was not disappointed.

"The Disc's greatest lovers were undoubtedly Mellius and Gretelina, whose pure, passionate and soul-searing affair would have scorched the pages of History if they had not, because of some unexplained quirk of fate, been born two hundred years apart on different continents. However, the gods took pity on them and turned him into an ironing board and her into a small brass bollard."

Thanks. Sorry for the delay. I got the book about two weeks ago, but I've been busy, so it also took me some time to finish the book I was reading. Now I will start on Mort. Judging by the other Terry Pratchetts I've read it shouldn't be possible to take long to read this.

See, it's just difficult to put a book by Terry Pratchett down. They are crazy and funny, with just enough ideas in them that they are a fast read without the risk of getting bored.
I sent it on to mymmel.

Journal Entry 21 by mymmel from -- Somewhere in London 🤷‍♀️ , Greater London United Kingdom on Monday, December 15, 2003
Got this one in the mail today. I have already started reading it, and it seems promising! When I'm done reading it I'll journal my thoughts on the book. Will try to get it back on the road as soon as possible.

Journal Entry 22 by mymmel from -- Somewhere in London 🤷‍♀️ , Greater London United Kingdom on Sunday, January 4, 2004
I found this book to be entertaining and clever, but not all that captivating. Perhaps I should read it in Swedish. It was my first Pratchett, and since I know so many who adore his books, I am a little sad that I didn't enjoy it more. I have to give him another chance. Any thoughts on what would be a good Pratchett to start over with?

Now it's on the way to Germany and lessien!

Journal Entry 23 by Lessien from München, Bayern Germany on Thursday, January 8, 2004
Mort has arrived today - Thank you mymmel!

01/18/04 -
"History isn't like that. It unravels gently, like an old sweater. It has been patched and darned many times, reknitted to suit different people , shoved into a box under the sink of censorship to be cut up for the dusters of propaganda, yet it always -eventually- manages to spring back into its old familiar shape. It has a habit of changing people who think they are changing it. History always has a few tricks up its sleeve. It's been around for a long time."

Another great Discworld novel!
The only thing that slightly annoyed me was the fact that the plot had quite a strong resemblance to "Soulmusic", in which Death fails in his quest for the sense of life and strives "to forget" (hilarious scenes at the salvation army camp!!), while his granddaughter Susan struggles with his job and compassionately spares a young musicians life ( which turns out to have quite disastrous effects).

Mort is on his way to babyimran, malaysia...

Journal Entry 25 by Lessien from München, Bayern Germany on Thursday, May 20, 2004
Since babyimran has not recieved the book yet, I must assume that it got lost on the way...
I'm so sorry! Up till now my international mail has always arrived within a few weeks ...
I'll hereby bury "Mort" - figuratively speaking- but I don't abandon the hope that it might miraculously turn up again one day!
