‘I was reading about the end of the universe when I got a text message from my friend Libby . . .'

If Kelsey Newman's theory about the end of time is true, we are all going to live forever. But for Meg – locked in a dead-end relationship and with a deadline long-gone for a book that she can't write – this thought fills her with dread. Meg is lost in a labyrinth of her own devising. But could there be an important connection between a wild beast living on Dartmoor, a ship in a bottle, the science of time, a knitting pattern for the shape of the universe and the Cottingley Fairies? Or is her life just one long chain of coincidences?

Smart, entrancing and buzzing with big ideas, Our Tragic Universe is a book about how relationships are created and destroyed, and how a story might just save your life.

Note: This was sent as a Canongate Books giveaway. If you've found this book, I hope you enjoy it and please post a journal entry telling us about YOUR fabric of the universe.

Just to say I'm reading it, nearly finished, and I'm loving it!

Journal Entry 4 by house-elfdobby at on Tuesday, May 25, 2010
Well I loved it! Although bits of it seemed to be way above my head, I was amazed that every few pages, something came up that sounds a bit like me, or it''s something I've been thinking about that day. It's almost like the book was second guessing me which is a really strange feeling as it's quite an odd quirky book. Maybe (there's no maybe about it some might say) I'm just an odd, quirky person :) I really enjoyed the writing and higlighted passages in the book that I particularly enjoyed such as:

'The wind had picked up and clouds moved across the sky thinly, as if being pulled from a dispenser.'

and

'The wind was coming in from the sea, and all the little boats danced on their moorings as if they were enchanted, making ghostly sounds.'

Enchanted? I was. thanks for the opportunity to read this book - I was going to pass it on straight away but I might just have to read it again ....

WILD RELEASE NOTES:

Hello, thank you for being curious enough to visit Bookcrossing!

Even if this isn't your kind of book and you don't intend to read it I'd appreciate it if you would make a journal entry of some sort. Maybe you could say where you found it (they don't always stay where they were originally left!) or what you think of the idea of travelling books.

Then, leave it for someone else to find. And don't forget, if you make release notes (to say where you've left it, and when) next time it's journalled you'll hear from it too! If you decide to join please say that house-elfdobby sent you - many thanks and happy Bookcrossing!
