On the back cover:
Vicky Rai, the son of a high-profile Minister, has been shot dead by one of the guests at his own party. They are a glitzy bunch, but among them the police found six strange, displaced characters with a gun in their posession, each of them steaming with a secret motive.
India's wiliest investigative journalist, Arun Advani, makes it his mission to nail the murderer. In doing so, the amazing, tenter and touching, techni-colour lives of six eccentric characters unravel before our eyes. But can we trust Advani? Or does he have another agenda in mind...?

Thank you tohweiee, this looks just the kind of book I enjoy, I will add it to Mt TBR, which is huge so it may take a little while for me to get to it.
Sorry it's taken me a while toget to this, my TBR pile is always so big.
I really enjoyed this, it was a very unusual book, funny one minute and tragic the next. I enjoyed following the six suspects, liking some and wanting things to work out for them and hoping others would get their comeuppance.

This is on its way to Tamsine in France, thank you for sending me a wishlist book. Hope you enjoy this as much as I did.
I see this book has already travelled quite a bit. Thank you, yorkshire-lass, and long live bookcrossing !
I am sorry I kept this for sooo long. I actually started it several years ago, but soon put it aside because each chapter is about a different character , which is something I hate. Even though I know the stories will be linked in the end, I lose interest. I took it up again now and finished it this time, but I cannot say I was very interested and the confusing ending did not help.

On the road again.
Well, this book started as kind of a murder mystery, then it felt like subtly satirizing/critisizing various situations and people, soon it felt like a parody or a farce and then the various threads got so over the top and cliche and often ridiculous, that in all honesty I couldn't decide if I liked the book or not.
There are many bittersweet moments and black humor that I liked, but sometimes the author stressed some points so much or got so repetitive on some trops, that what was refreshing and fun or captivating in each story line, got tiring after a while. I liked the introduction to all Indian things and areas and mindsets more or less, but I found the American character's chapters frustrating and boring, while I felt there was much beating around the bush on each sub-plot. Furthermore I'm not sure how I felt about the end.
Actually, for no reason in particular, at the very start of the book the idea of who might be the culprit came to my mind and at the end I was right. But while the closure of the book is poignant and clever on some aspects and there aren't many loose threads left, some secondary or non-existant characters suddenly come in the spot light and I'm not sure if I liked this turn of events or not.
All in all, althought this book features all kind of cliche, in its way it was an original read for sure!
