I like TV reporter Robin Hudson. I like her in the same way I like Kinsey Millhone and Stephanie Plum, three ladies who between them have me convinced of the merits of chick-driven series books, something the literary snob in me certainly never thought I'd say...;O)

I came into this series in a bit of a backwards fashion...on a trawl through my bookcases, I found a copy of 'The Chelsea Girl Murders' which must have been my boy's ex's, so I registered it, offered it up on the forums, and had it snapped up straight away by Rhenium3 in Prague, and had every intention of passing it on unread. And then I had a quick flick through it, a couple of passages caught my eye, and almost before I knew it, I'd read the whole thing, and giggled a fair old bit in the process.

I mistakenly thought that it was book 3 of the series (it turns out to be number 5), and so have only now gone back to the beginning of the series to start again...and they're great.

I'm currently half-way through the second book, 'Nice Girls Finish Last', and it's great too. Robin as a character is witty and sharp (but not unrealistically so), and has plenty of the only-too-human foibles that mean while I like Anita Blake and Buffy, I'll never like them the way I do Robin, Stephanie and capable Kinsey.

Great stuff...am going to make a fairly rare move now and designate this one PC, because I'll want to read it again some day, but I think it'll venture out on a ring or two to ensure it doesn't get too lonely in the meantime...:O)

RELEASE NOTES:

A fab read - the first of the Robin Hudson series, which I read completely out of order and am trying to rectify now with a well-earned re-read! This one's PC, but I'm taking this one along to tonight's Hull Meet to lend to Sheli, who's all about Stephanie at the moment and about to run out of books - a perfect time to introduce her to Robin, then! Enjoy! :O)
