This has got to be one of the best books I have read. It is the story of a woman named Fancy who became orphaned during the civil war at a young age and the life she leads from there. Along the line she meet 2 brothers Chance and Hart who we also orphaned during their teen years, and many other life long friends. This story has tales from the civil war, the California gold rush, and silver finds in Colorado, the setteling of the west and the plight of the indian nations. The story is well written and the characters are totally believable. How the character weave in and out of each others lives and the holds they leave with each other are wonderful. Every character in the book is well developed, believeable and each ones story is unique and necessary to the whole of the story. I would highly recommend reading this book.
