My reason for obtaining & reading this book was that Kate Grenville was one of the featured authors on BBC World Book Club... I am trying to read all the books talked about on the book club & this one was especially GOOD.....Kate Grenville did an amazing amount of research into this book - reading it you live & breath the enormous clash between two civilisations that both want to call Australia their own. Somehow she manages to show both 'peoples' in a sympathetic light - she shows the frailness and the strengths that clash together and you find it hard to seperate your sympathies to both the white settlers and the black aborigines..... an excellent 'hard to put down' read...
