Maisie Dobbs and I have kind of a love hate relationship. I like the cosy mystery aspect and the setting between the wars, but she's a little too new age for me despite the time setting. I realize I should think instead that she's a woman ahead of her time, but when she takes a centering breath, I roll my eyes. It's very convenient that her mentor or her patron seem to know all the essentials and right people to introduce her to so that she can solve her case or help someone in despair.

I think I've seen The White Feather and The Four Feathers each too often to not guess what was going on here early on. Maybe I'll give Daisy a miss for a bit, despite the things I enjoy about the books.
