I picked up this book shortly after bottling wine with some Mennonite ladies in Alberta and before going to work at a Chicken farm in Quebec. The timing was perfect.
It is a beautiful, bittersweet coming-of-age book which makes you want to both hug the main character and freak out along with her. Although you feel that the end can only be a tragic one, I finished it in floods of happy tears. Miriam Toews is an amazing writer. I hope you enjoy it as much as I did.
