I saw a cheap copy of this a few days ago and I couldn't resist buying it as a release copy. It must have been quite good because I can actually remember what it's about. All my chick novels are starting to blend and I have trouble recalling what some of them were about.
I offered this one at Casual Reader's Book Relay site. It has been accepted by Luckaye and hopefully I'll be able to send it to her sometime this week.

I really enjoyed this book. Cannie was witty, smart and sensitive. She strived so hard to do it all alone. In spite of the wounds inflicted on her by those who loved her, she survived.
On its way to veritas9 at the end of the week after being offered up for relay.

Received in the mail today! Looking forward to reading it!
Unfortunatly, I can relate to Cannie more than I would like to admit. Always having a weight problem myself, a lot of what Cannie did and felt really hit me close to the heart. This is by far one of the best "chick lit" books that I have read. It had a real purpose. My only complaint was the very obvious ending. I saw it coming miles away. Overall though, this is a book that I think every girl, no matter their size, should read.
Offered up on the relay site and quickly picked up by three104! Will mail out to her soon! I hope that she loves it as much as I did!
Been wanting this book for some time now -- was lucky to see it on the Relay -- will read and post again.
I really enjoyed this book -- it took me a bit longer to read than I like -- stuff kept getting in the way. I liked the second half of the book better than the first. I laughed out loud quite a few times but wanted to smack Cannie when she kept on and on over Bruce. I was proud of her when she found out about Joy and happy for her at the end. One of the better Chick Lit books I've read -- more story and drama than most.
So far, this looks like it has been a "Relay" book but I'll just have to wait and see.

Received in the mail from Catawba, Wisconsin, USA, through the Still More Chick Lit - US Only Bookrelay. I gave the first copy I got from the relays to my friend Desiree (it has a reader's guide). I'll read and release this one, and I got a third copy from the relays for my friend Alejandra. (Neither of them are BookCrossers, but I'm hoping.) Read the 1st chapter at jenniferweiner.com.

It is tempting at first but unwise to assume Candace Shapiro is yet another Bridget Jones. Feisty, funny and less self-hating than her predecessor, Cannie is a 28-year-old Philadelphia Examiner reporter preoccupied with her weight and men, but able to see the humor in even the most unpleasant of life's broadsides. Even she is floored, however, when she reads "Good in Bed," a new women's magazine column penned by her ex-boyfriend, pothead grad student Bruce Guberman. Three months earlier, Cannie suggested they take a break apparently, Bruce thought they were through and set about making such proclamations as, "Loving a larger woman is an act of courage in our world." Devastated by this public humiliation, Cannie takes comfort in tequila and her beloved dog, Nifkin. Bruce has let her down like another man in her life: Cannie's sadistic, plastic surgeon father emotionally abused her as a young girl, and eventually abandoned his wife and family, leaving no forwarding address. Cannie's siblings suffer, especially the youngest, Lucy, who has tried everything from phone sex to striptease. Their tough-as-nails mother managed to find love again with a woman, Tanya, the gravel-voiced owner of a two-ton loom. Somehow, Cannie stays strong for family and friends, joining a weight-loss group, selling her screenplay and gaining the maturity to ask for help when she faces something bigger than her fears. Weiner's witty, original, fast-moving debut features a lovable heroine, a solid cast, snappy dialogue and a poignant take on life's priorities. This is a must-read for any woman who struggles with body image, or for anyone who cares about someone who does.

Well written & intelligent, but for at least the first half I was annoyed by Cannie's pining for Mr. So Very Wrong. Then I laughed, cried, and laughed some more, so by the end I really liked this book.
Gave to a friend who lives on Martha's Vineyard, Massachusetts, USA. She may not journal, but hopefully she'll wild release when she's done reading.
