Journal Entry 1 by SabinaLorenz from Wien Bezirk 19 - Döbling, Wien Austria on Thursday, December 10, 2009
Only eighteen black peole live in Kingsmarkham. One is Wexford's new Doctor, Raymond Akande. When the doctor's daughter, Melanie, goes missing, the Chief Inspector takes more than just a professional interest in the case.
Melanie, just down from university but unable to find a job, disappeared somewhere between the Benefit Office and the bus stop. Or at least no one saw her get on the bus when it came.
According to her partents, Melanie was happy at home. She had recently broken up with her boyfriend but, until now, there had been no cause to worry about her. And no one liked to voice the suspicion that something might have happened, that Melanie might be dead...

Journal Entry 2 by SabinaLorenz from Wien Bezirk 19 - Döbling, Wien Austria on Friday, January 15, 2010
An interesting book about a missing girl, the different stages of racism and whether someone is aware of it or not and how the mystery can be solved.
There are no strange and unrealistic turns, but it could have happened this way. The characters are credible and well defined and the stroy develops slowly but still in a way to make the reader curious, what will happen next.

The book has been written in the nineties and therefore some technical features we use on a daily basis nowadays are missing, but this is no draw-back, because the story could have happened then as well as it could happen today.
