I was given this for my birthday in Feb, and have only just got around to reading it (well, I found it at the bottom of a pile actually...)
Anyway, just finished it, and thought it was a bit bizarre. Not my normal reading diet, bit I did enjoy it for the development of Oscar's character. I didn't particularly relish the notes, and found myself skipping through them towards the end.
Will be interesting to see what others think of this - think it would probably make a good reading group book - not that I'm in one!!!

My Mum had this and has very kindly put it to the top of her reading pile as it was on my NSSFC partner's wishlist.
Hope you enjoy it, and Happy Christmas!
Hope you enjoy it, and Happy Christmas!
I received this book as part of my amazing NSSFC gift, It was the envy of everyone on Christmas morning!
On boxing day morning I flew off to Spain with a suitcase full of books, and this was the first I dipped into. I found the number of Spanish phrases broke up the narrative a lot. When I was able to get free wifi, I looked them up, but most of the time, the meaning was lost on me. I found the footnotes quirky at first, but annoying as the book went on.
On a seperate note, thank you so much to Bill and his mum, Betty. The care and thought that was taken over putting the parcel together was more than most of my friends and relatives! The whole parcel really warmed my heart, and I hope your parcel was just as well thought out.
I'll be passing this on via Bookmooch, would be interested to hear what other people thought...
