Only a few weeks before graduation, Cambridge student Mark Callender dropped out of college and apparently committed suicide. As his father, renowned scientist Sir Ronald Callander, doubts the explanation offered by the police, he hires private detective Cordelia Gray to throw light on the mysterious death. What in the beginning looks like an easy job soon turns out to be tricky and rather dangerous. Cordelia discovers that she has to track down a callous murderer who does not shun from committing another crime.
