Found it in Sonsie Cafe in Athens while releasing there some other books. Ken Follet is one of my favourite authors and this one I havent read. So the book will keep me company for a while before releasing it again into the wild.

Now in my hands for a little while

A nice book. It kept my interest stimulated most of the time. The action was nice and the mouse and cat game between Flickr and Dieter was so close to ending all the time. Nevertheless when i finished it i had a bit of a strange taste.

Maybe the rest of my review is spoilers for the future readers, so anyone that doesn't want to be given hints for the end of the book can stop here. Too many people died, far too many. The mixing of love affairs in the action i suppose is serving as a break from the constant action, but nevertheless all these different people involved somehow with others were a bit too much for my taste. And about Michel it sounded a bit like "Θεία Νέμεσις" his ending. How can somebody love two women and be willing to give his life for both? I suppose it would have been cruel to abandon his lover to her own fate for the sake of his wife, but it would have seemed to be a bit more proper than this way. Trying to keep both satisfied isn't possible. I didn't like his character at all. Cheating for 6 whole months and then seeming to regret when she saves him although she was risking her own life, but still feeling vulnerable about his lover and then in the end give his life for his wife. A bit too complex for me. Maybe a guy would understand him better, but i am afraid i don't.

Καλωσήρθες στο BookCrossing! Γράψε αν θες ένα μικρό σχόλιο για το πού και πώς βρήκες το βιβλίο. Δεν χρειάζεται να γραφτείς στο site για να γράψεις σχόλιο παρακάτω - μπορείς να παραμείνεις ανώνυμος!
Διάβασε το βιβλίο, αν θέλεις, και μετά βοήθησέ το να συνεχίσει το ταξίδι του αφήνοντάς το κάπου (σε ένα παγκάκι, σε έναν τηλεφωνικό θάλαμο, στο προαύλιο του σχολείου, στο τραπεζάκι μιας καφετέριας, κλπ.) για να το βρει κάποιος άλλος, όπως το βρήκες κι εσύ. Μπορείς ακόμη να το χαρίσεις σε κάποιον φίλο σου!

Έπεσε Κεν Φόλετ στο τραπέζι στο meet up και φυσικά τον γράπωσα προτού προλάβει κανείς άλλος! Τον λατρεύω από τους "Στυλοβάτες της γης" και τώρα είναι μια καλή ευκαιρία να διαβάσω και κάτι άλλο δικό του!

Ken Follett kommt mit eher kleinem Wortschatz aus und mit wenig hintersinniger Bedeutung und ist somit gut geeignet zum Englischlernen. Die Geschichte ist meist schön geradlinig und spannend.

Und ich kann der persönlichen Lesekritik von Alerion (s.o.) folgen. Und außerdem: Der Nazi (Dieter Franck), der bei seinen schlimmen Taten aber auch zwischendurch Gefühle und Gewissenskonflikte hat --- naja. Ganz zum Schluß hat er dann seine gerechte Strafe - auch das eine einfache Handlungsmündung.

Das Buch lag am ende des MeetUps noch uff dem Tisch.

Geht nun zu meinen AVL´s!

Dieses Buch Reist nun weiter in ein Hostel und wird dort hoffentlich gut aufgenommen!
