I collected the parcel this morning and was very suprised to find not one but two books!

I feel very spoiled this book looks brand new!

I've read a few Alison Weir books before but not this one and I have to admit the story of Lady Jane Grey looks like a very interesting read!

Thank you so much for sending this to me and going out and finding something especially tailored to my tastes. I look forward to reading it soon!

*SPOILERS*

Alison Weir for me is one of the masters of historical fiction. I love the changes in viewpoint that move the story along showing the most important parts at the time. I know quite a bit about Lady Jane Grey's later life however I know little about her childhood so it was really interesting to read about that. I particularly enjoyed reading about Elizabeth from a supposed different point of view. You have to applaud Lady Jane for her courage and not taking the easiest route rather following her religious viewpoint to the end even if it resulted in her execution. To an extent I feel sorry for Mary I as it must have been very difficult to make the decision and you do feel through Weir's writing that the decision was not taken lightly.

Again though you get to see how difficult it was to be a child or a young woman in Tudor times being used as a pawn for your parental advantage. I actually found myself wanting to scream at the book in parts that these people should just leave well alone and be happy with their lot. However many of the books that you read in these precarious times of religious upheaval you see people flipping sides and changing solely to their advantage. It was nice to see that Jane Grey remained constant in her allegience to her religion and not wanting advancement.

Thank you very much again for sending the book to me I very much enjoyed it.

Thank you very much for sending me the book. I'm currently reading another novel by the same author and can't wait to start on this one.

I've just finished it and I really enjoyed it. I didn't know the story of Jane Grey well. I particularly appreciated the several points of view.
I shall be releasing it this week.
