'Werewolves, Vampires, Witches, Voodoo, Elvis - and Weddings.
An 'Ordinary' wedding can get crazy enough, so can you imagine what happens when otherworldly creatures are involved?
Nine of the hottest authors of paranormal fiction answer that question in this delightful collection of supernatural wedding stories. What's the seating plan when rival clans of werewolves and vampires meet under the same roof? How can a couple in the throes of love overcome traps set by feuding relatives... who are experts at voodoo? Will you have a good marriage if your high-seas wedding is held on a cursed ship? How do you deal with a wedding singer who's just a little *too* good at impersonating Elvis?
Shape-shifters, wizards, and magic, Oh My!
Contains:
Spellbound by L.A. Banks
Something Borrowed by Jim Butcher
Dead Man's Chest by Rachel Caine
'All Shook Up' by P.N. Elrod
The Wedding of Wylda Serene by Esther M. Friesner
Charmed by the Moon by Lori Handeland
Tacky by Charlaine Harris
A Hard Day's Night-Searcher by Sherrilyn Kenyon and
'...Or Forever Hold Your Peace' by Susan Krinard'

Haven't seen this book before, but liked the idea, especially as I love Jim Butcher's Harry Dresden novels and adore Charlaine Harris' Sookie Stackhouse mystery novels.
Once read may see if anyone else wants to read this one.
An American published edition - St. Martins Press.
£1.99 in Oxfam in St.Neots' today - probably about £10 at least new :)

Reading from yesterday evening and today at lunch and really enjoying. Not a romance novel fan of any description but I'm a Jim Butcher fan and the rest of the short stories are well up to his and Charlaine Harris' standard. New characters to meet and new enemies to fear and then slay with all kinds of handy weapons :)
When I've done with this, I guess I'll be offering it up for a ring - it's too good to keep to myself!

Journal Entry 3 by AgnesXNitt from Godmanchester, Cambridgeshire United Kingdom on Friday, October 2, 2009
As I had only really heard of two authors from the collection, I wasn't really expecting much from the other stories, but I was pleasantly surprised by the high standard of all the stories. The only one I wasn't so keen on was the Sherrilyn Kenyon, but that's because I felt there was more sexual tension than plot. My favourites are the Jim Butcher, Charlaine Harris, P.N. Elrod and Susan Krinard stories.
Will offer this up in a ring because I'm sure there are other fans of this genre about on Bookcrossing :)

Journal Entry 5 by AgnesXNitt from Godmanchester, Cambridgeshire United Kingdom on Tuesday, October 20, 2009
Oooops! Life got a little mad there and this one temporarily slipped my mind until I got a nudge from a participant :S Sorry! Right, I have PM'd Jonniboi today for his addy and intend to get this one in the post to him in Birmingham this weekend (when I'm hopeful that I'll have his addy).
It's rare I call the reminder for rules on Bookrings but just to confirm:

Please try to read and post this book within 4-5 weeks. If you don't think you'll be able to manage this, please let the next Bookcrosser in line know.
If you change your mind about reading the book please let the previous reader know when they PM you, or failing that, please let me know so I can amend the listing.
Surface posting is fine with me, UK bookcrossers I know are keeping a close eye on the mood of the Royal Mail for short notice strikes and local wildcat actions so EU Bookcrossers please be patient.
Er, thats kinda it. Enjoy the stories!
Any problems, please let me know.

Thank you for this bookring, and thanks for the little postcard!

I am getting on top of my bookrings/rays and even though this is at the bottom of them, I may just about manage to get to it, considering I have this whole week off (Half-term)

Shall PM next person in line right now!

I have now had this book for 1 whole month, but I'm nearly to the end, I'm sorry it's taken so long, but I pushed my college work infront of this, and I'm really sorry, I shall get it finished soon, and I hope I finish it before Wednesday, as that's my "post office" day where I go down there and send the books I need to send off. If I do not finish by then, then the wednesday after I shall send it, and if I don't finish it by then, then I'll send it in January (as I really don't want it to get lost in the christmas rush) however I doubt it'll take that long to send!

Journal Entry 8 by JonniC from Birmingham, West Midlands United Kingdom on Wednesday, December 9, 2009
I really liked this book, it got my attention and some stories I couldn't stop reading. I am soooooo sorry it's taken so long to finish, it's just that I've had a hell of a lot of college work to do and just haven't had the time to read, sorry!

I learnt that Supernatural covers a wide range of different genres, and it was amazing how all these stories were linked! Here's what I thought:

Spellbound - L. A. Banks (Romance/Light horror)
An author I have never heard of but now I shall invest in buying some more books as I really need to read more of L. A. Banks' books because this story was AMAZING! The way it drew me in was brilliant, and it totally captured me. What was going through my mind was: "I so hope no one's wedding turns out like this!" It was absurd and funny which was totally ideal. 4/5

Something Borrowed - Jim Butcher (Romance/Detective)
This one was really good, I was sort of expecting this to come with the usual rhyme however the title totally leads you in the wrong direction! At the beginning, it's a little hard to understand, and I clearly need to invest in buying some books off Jim Butcher (another author I have never heard of) as this story was brilliant. 4/5

Dead Man's Chest - Rachel Caine (Romance/Light Mystery)
This really interested me as you didn't know which way you were going to turn, with little individual surprises along the way which really shocked me, again the title is mis-leading and really doesn't connect to the story. I really enjoyed this story and I have to add Rachel Caine books onto my wishlist! 3.5/5

"All Shook Up" - P. N. Elrod (Romance/Light Thriller)
This was different from the other stories as this one's narrative wasn't exactly involved in the wedding. The narrator was Frankee, who was the producer of a wedding catering service. There she meets an Elvis impersonator, hence the title: "All Shook Up". The thriller bit (which was a Michael Jackson song, not an Elvis song) was a feeling inside the characters, some sort of power. A really god story, that I wouldn't mind reading again, but it was a slow start. 3/5

The Wedding of Wylda Serene - Esther M. Friesner (Romance/Mythology)
A good knowledge of mythology would be good with this story luckily, for me, at school we'd studied a bit of mythology, so therefore I could understand this story more than other people could. However the start was all over the place with the introduction of the characters, I couldn't keep up! On the other hand I enjoyed the story and plan on adding some of Esther M. Friesner's books to my wishlist 3/5

Charmed by the Moon - Lori Handeland (Romance/Magic)
I enjoyed this to an extent but it was missing background stuff and so it was all pretty quick which isn't something I wanted. Anyhow it was still a good story & that's why my wishlist will be full of Lori's books soon. 3.5/5

Tacky - Charlaine Harris (Romace/Horror)
Finally, an author I have heard of... However I haven't read any of her books, on the other hand I have signed up to a few bookrays/rings in which the book is by this author. And I cannot wait for them as this story just proves how good an author she is. This story was amazing, it gripped you from the start and you couldn't stop reading! 5/5

A Hard Day's Night-Searcher - Sherrilyn Kenyon (Romance/Light Thriller)
This book was written really well, and at times I couldn't stop reading. I was questioning how this story could be linked to weddings, but it is found out near the end. It is quite a lengthy story, which annoyed me as I couldn't stop putting it down. Overall it was really good, and drew me in 4.5/5

"... Or Forever Hold Your Peace" - Susan Krinard (Romance/Detective)
To be honest, I don't know what to make of this. The start is slow and weak, but once you read-on it finally intensifies and then, to end, leaving you complicated and thinking: "HUH"! I found this weird & need to read some books by this author to help me understand! 4/5

This is a really good book, and I enjoyed it very much! I shall be sending it out to the next person in line on Tuesday!

Journal Entry 11 by ReetPetite from Beeston, Nottinghamshire United Kingdom on Thursday, January 14, 2010
Excellent collection of stories, very sharp writing. My favourites are:
'Dead Man's Chest', which I thought was very funny, a woman finds herself in the world of romance book heroes,
'The Wedding of Wylda Serene', I love stories where mythological characters meet modern people.

Jonniboi: Jim Butcher wrote 'The Dresden Files' which were made into a TV series, I found a book in the series which I'll pop in the the post to you.

Thanks for this bookring AgnesXNitt, you are a great BCer & welcome to browse my AVAILs too.

Journal Entry 13 by Canadian-babe from Montepulciano, Toscana Italy on Tuesday, February 23, 2010
Well, I've finally finished the book. I liked all the short stories. Some were a little slow while others I was able to jump right in and enjoy them.

I love stories/movies having to do with the Supernatural but I've never read any books from these authors before. I've heard of Jim Butcher because I watched some of the Dresden files on TV and loved it. So I will definately take note of many authors and try to get to read some of their books.

I've contacted Bookworm-Lady since she's next on the list. As soon as I have her address, I'll ship the book off to her for more Supernatural travels!!

Well... I have only read half of the stories in this book, but as it is long overdue, I think it is time to return it back to Agnes, who has always been so nice to me!
This is not exactly my type of reading; I don't know, maybe I expected something different, or maybe I am not in the right mood.
Having said this, I really enjoyed the Elvis story, "All Shook Up", and will probably look for more P.N. Elrod's short stories or novels (see pic).
Thanks for sharing, and once again, sorry for the long delay!
