A free gift from the May 1994 now defunct BBC Magazine with seven stories from the Hercule Poirot casebook:

The Affair of the Victory Ball
At a costume ball, young Lord Cronshaw is murdered, and his fiance, Coco, dies of a cocaine overdose. Through the clever use of subterfuge, can Poirot find out who the killer is?
'The Affair at the Victory Ball' was printed in 'The Under Dog and Other Mysteries' and filmed for television with David Suchet.

The Adventure of the Clapham Cook
A missing cook is not the usual sort of case Hercule Poirot would bother with but when a bank employee goes missing on the same day, he is most definitely intrigued.
Published in the UK in 1924 in 'The Sketch' as part of the series 'The Grey Cells of M. Poirot II'. The short story was filmed for television in 1989 with David Suchet as Poirot.

The Cornish Mystery
A passionate Cornishwoman, Mrs. Pengelley, tries to convince Poirot that her husband is trying to poison her. He has long had an illicit affair with a younger woman, and she is sure they want her out of the way... But can Poirot save her and is her husband really to blame?
'The Cornish Mystery' was published in 'The Under Dog and Other Mysteries'.

The Adventure of Johnnie Waverly
When little Johnnie Waverly is kidnapped there is only person his distraught parents consider turning to – the inimitable Hercule Poirot!
This short story was first published in the UK in 1924 in 'The Sketch' as part of the series 'The Grey Cells of M. Poirot II'. It was filmed for television in 1989 with David Suchet as Poirot.

The Double Clue
A wealthy jewellery collector learns that several valuable pieces from his collection have been stolen. Poirot answers Hardman’s urgent call and immediately launches an investigation. His only clues a man’s glove and a cigarette case...
This short story appeared in 'Double Sin and Other Stories' and was adapted for television with David Suchet as Poirot

The Market Basing Mystery
Inspector Japp and Poirot are solid friends but they have different views of how to solve the death of a local man in the village of Market Basing. It would appear to be suicide by handgun. But all is not what is seems when the housekeeper points out that the gun was in the victim’s left hand, whilst he had been right-handed.
'The Market Basing Mystery' is published in 'The Under Dog and Other Mysteries'.

Wasps' Nest
Poirot visits John Harrison in his garden. John Harrison is engaged to Molly Deane. She threw her previous fiance, Claude Langton over for John. And now Claude and John are good friends. In fact, Claude is to destroy a troublesome wasp's nest in John's garden for him. But Poirot has seen Claude's name in a poison book, against a quantity of Cyanide. And John Harrison is acting strangely. Poirot is worried - what is afoot?

I haven't read all of these, so I'll read this little book and then offer it up as a bookring or ray perhaps.
Bought from the RSPCA charity shop in St Ives today for 50p.

Well, Ms Christie never disappoints, and it was a pleasure to re-read again all these lovely and well-deviced short stories. Thanks for sharing them with us!
Ah, for the little gray cells!
I have Hakkalina's address, but I am finishing to read another book I must pass on to her; she suggested I could send both together, and it suits me just fine.

A nice surprise waiting in my mailbox on my first day back at school. I have another book I'm almost finished with and then it will be on to this one to complete the ring. :)

EDIT (9/5/10): I'm reading it now.

Finished this on the plane yesterday. While these quick cases weren't as engaging as a full-length Poirot novel, I still enjoyed the chance to exercise my little grey cells. It was actually quite perfect since it's hard for me to find the time to read for pleasure while I'm in school.

"Wasps' Nest" was certainly the best in the lot for me; it seemed to have the most of both Christie's and Poirot's flare. But, the whole book was definitely an entertaining little distraction from my everyday routine. Thanks again, AgnesXNitt, for sharing this! It will be on its way home soon.

CONTROLLED RELEASE NOTES:

Finally got this put in the mail, though I accidentally chose priority shipping. But that's fine. It simply means that Monsieur Poirot will arrive home all the sooner.

Received yesterday from my neighbours when I returned from a weekend away. Thank you so much for sending this book back to me Shannon - much appreciated.
Thank you for the sticky note too :) Coincedentally the coat of arms for Godmanchester (my home village) is also the Fleur de lis - how freaky is that?!
M. Poirot will now return to my PC pending further travels.
Thanks to everyone who joined in this ring, I'm glad you all enjoyed it.
