Now travelling in my Surprise Bookbox...

Journal Entry 3 by Tsjara from Zaandam, Noord-Holland Netherlands on Thursday, October 8, 2009
Took it out of the Surprise Bookbox (thanks for hosting christina82!)
I have actually never heard of the author before, but the story sounded interesting.
(I noticed later that one of the books I put in the surprise bookbox had an introduction written by Graham Greene, hihi funny coincidence)

Journal Entry 4 by Tsjara at Assendelft, Noord-Holland Netherlands on Thursday, August 9, 2012
I finally finished reading this little book a couple days ago. Found it rather slow going and it took me a few weeks to get through. Not sure what to think of the book, it is well written and I kept reading mostly because I liked the writing style (and because it is a 1001 book :p).
However, the story didn't really grab me and I didn't like Bendrix much, all that whining and obsessing about Sarah.. (does he hate her or love her?)
The part with the diary I found a bit easier to read. Though I don't know what to make of all that talk about God ('You'), and was she really becoming a Catholic?
After she died, I was a bit confused that there were so many pages left, seemed to me like the story could have ended there (and again all that talk about God and miracles.. I guess I had expected it to be more of a love story, and found it a bit strange that Bendrix kept thinking of God as a rival.. even though he didn't believe in God, nor did Sarah(?) or Henry). Funny how Henry and Bendrix ended up living together 'like two old bachelors'.
I haven't seen the movie, but would like to one day.

Reserving this for a VBB. :)

CONTROLLED RELEASE NOTES:

This little book is finally travelling again (thanks christina for sharing the book and apologies for holding on to it so long).

Going to Elskaliam in Sweden now (who chose it from the "A Little Bit of Everything" VBB: http://www.bookcrossing.com/journal/11248172/).

There were some notes written in English and Danish (I think) on the pages. I wonder if you can read them? Some of the words I could figure out as they sound/look a bit like Dutch.. but perhaps Swedish is very different? :p
Anyway, I hope you'll enjoy the book ^_^

Journal Entry 6 by Elskaliam at Hässleholm, Skåne Sweden on Thursday, August 30, 2012
Thank you so much! Yes if the notes are in danish I will most likely be able to figure them out. Swedish Danish and Norwegian are very close related. Close enough that I can speak swedish to a Danish person and they most likely understand what I'm saying.
Another 1001-book I can cross off the list! Yay!
