Completely mad and twisted, a fun read!

------------
JO LAROUCHE HAS lived her 13 years in the California desert with her Aunt Lily, ever since she was dropped on Lily’s doorstep with this note: "This is Jo. Please take care of her. But beware. This is a dangerous baby." At Lily’s annual Christmas costume party, a variety of strange events take place that lead Jo and Lily out of California forever—and into the mysterious, strange, fantastical world of Eldritch City. There, Jo learns the scandalous truth about who she is, and she and Lily join the Order of Odd-Fish, a collection of knights who research useless information. Glamorous cockroach butlers, pointless quests, obsolete weapons, and bizarre festivals fill their days, but two villains are controlling their fate. Jo is inching closer and closer to the day when her destiny is fulfilled, and no one in Eldritch City will ever be the same.

Thrilling, imaginative and not a book for little children, even though the heroine is a thirteen-year-old girl. Some elements did remind me of (the later) Harry Potter books, but it's no plagiarism. Perhaps a little bit riding the Potter wave (since before Potter it would have be difficult to find an editor for something like this, I think).

Grabbed from the table in need for something nice to read and release on vacation especially during the long stay on some airport to switch plane.

Edit: The book startet a bit lame, but in the progress grew thrilling and funny. It attended me on my flight to Israel and back to Amsterdam, where I convinced delfinnetti to it.

I was handed this book on the campsite where lots of Bookcrossers were staying for the bookcrossing Convention 2010 by ParadizeApple who knows I like to read this kind of book. The book never made it to the tables in the Griffioen where the Convention was held. Thanks for bringing the book along and giving it to me! I look forward to reading it.
