It's really rather hard to rate a young boy's real journey through a chaotic, warring Sierra Leone from family to fighting to freedom. Needless to say, it puts the life of the average American youth in perspective. There are times when the writing is a bit jerky, but overall it is poignant and well-told. It ends abruptly as Ishmael goes toward the rest of his life, leaving me wanting more. Highly recommended to anyone interested in global issues and those with a strong stomach.
Released to a friend and former roommate, who was helping me pack up after my last quarter in college. Thanks for everything girl, hope you enjoy it!
