"Following her successful debut, 2000's Chocolate Chip Cookie Murder, Fluke brings back amateur sleuth and Lake Eden, Minn., bakery owner Hannah Swensen for another delicious adventure. Hannah has the honor of serving as head judge of the first annual Hartland Flour Dessert Bake-off, which she anticipates will be good advertising for her already popular bakery, The Cookie Jar. Then one of the judges, high school basketball coach Boyd Watson, is found dead, face down in Hannah's strawberry shortcake, and suspicion falls on Watson's abused wife, Danielle. Determined to prove Danielle's innocence, Hannah ignores the warnings of romantic interest Mike Kingston, the supervisor of detectives at the Winnetka County sheriff's station, not to get involved. Tempting descriptions of meals served at the local establishments, mouth-watering recipes and a warm family of characters ward off the vividly depicted bitter chill of a Minnesota winter. "

Quite enjoyable book - the only problem with these books by Fluke is that I could almost kill someone to get a good, delicious cookie! This was another cozy mystery with some exciting scenes but also homely stuff with the cookie shop. The humour was nice, and I can't wait to get the hold of the next book to know how Hannah will deal with the two men in her life!

Sending this to Annimanni! :)
Yummy :D Thanks Tiina!
Weeelll, after reading the first one I knew I'd like this one too - and so I did! My only complaint (apart from the constant craving of cookies while reading, that is!) is that it took Hannah a bit too long to realize who the murderer was; after all, it was crystal clear dozens of pages earlier :)

Well, I wanted some cookies of Hannah's really badly. I was hungry almost all the time while reading this story. Luckily the measures and some of the incredients are unknown to me. So I need not start baking any of those delicious cookies myself. I took icecream instead.
I liked this story very much. I hope I'll find some more stories by Joanne Fluke some time soon!

Found this from the Helsinki area meetup today. Looking forward to read it.
This was my first Hanna Swensen mysterybook but I guarantee not the last one. I really liked it, it was cozy, light, quick, entertaining read. Just what I need with my hormone blasts at the moment when concentration is not at it's strongest. Maybe slight minus for main character not realising a bit earlier that one person is really missing. For readers it was obvious for long time.
Thanks for the book! I'm looking forward to read the other books in the series.
**EDIT: Reserved for sannuli.
