So finally I'm working through the books taken from Berlin... :-)
This one is just brillant. Sometimes the straightforward and simple way to tell a fable is the best.
The animals were surprised to realise how they remembered the seven commandements wrongly. How better to explain how thinkpol, minitrue, altering history etc. work?
The fate of Boxer made me actualy realy sad and I couldn't clearly figure out who Benjamin stood for. The wise old men who have seen everything, know from the beginning that nothing good will come from the change but nevertheless go along with it?
Seems to be one of several possible interpretations, according to wiki at least :-D
And he is quite right I guess, the next group of pigs is surely coming...

I read that book a while ago. I already knew the film which is pretty close to the book, so no surprises there. i'm still glad i read it. even if we aren't living under such a dictatorship, there is a lot that can be applied to our present.
