Bet Me

"Minerva Dobbs knows how to work the odds.
Calvin Morrisey always plays to win.
But when they face off, neither one is prepared because when real life meets true love, all bets are off...
Minerva Dobbs knows that happily-ever-after is a fairy tale, especially with a man who asked her to dinner to win a bet. Even if he is gorgeous and successful Calvin Morrisey. Cal knows commitment is impossible, especially with a woman as cranky as Min Dobbs. Even if she does wear great shoes and keeps him on his toes. When they say good-bye at the end of their evening, they cut their losses and agree never to see each other again.
But Fate has other plans and it's not long before Min and Cal meet again. Soon they're dealing with jealous ex-boyfriend, Krispy Kreme donuts, a determined psychologist, chaos theory, a freakishly intelligent cat, Chicken Marsala, and more risky propositions than either of them ever dreamed of. Including the biggest gamble of all -- true love."
My opinion: I read it over 2 years ago, but I remember not particularly liking it. In fact, Min(erva) was very annoying. But it's a good one if you're into chick lit ;-)

This book will be released for the Convention Monopoly game by team Spek met Boontjes (Bacon and Beans). The assignment in the third week for our team was: release a book in the suburb. And so it will be done!
This book also carries a recipe along on its journey. A recipe for bacon and beans:
3 table spoons of butter
8 slices of bacon, diced
2 pounds of fresh green beans, cut into 1 inch pieces
freshly ground pepper, to taste
Melt butter in a large skillet and fry bacon until crispy. Set aside.
Bring a pot of water to boil. Boil beans for about 10 minutes or until desired doneness is reached. Drain beans, add them to the skillet with bacon and butter. Toss well and heat until well coated. Add pepper.
To be released tomorrow @ de Uithof, on the outer rim of Utrecht.

WILD RELEASE NOTES:
If you want to hunt this book down, make sure you bring along something else in return, because you cannot take it without exchanging something for it!
I was actually on my way to the botanical gardens to do this week's Monopoly release, but when I exited the elevators in my flat I saw an 'Exchange Box'. Someone had placed a box in the hall of Casa Confetti where you put one thing in, take another thing out. Absolutely free. I couldn't resist and I dropped 'Bet Me' in there. Releasing a book on my favorite reading bench in the botanical gardens will have to wait.
Dropped in the 'Exchange Box' in the main hall of Casa Confetti, de Uithof. Further info: this week's assignments and the special BC-board.

Hallo daar, vinder!
