Wish I could have read this in his native language. Think it may have lost a little something in translation but still captures the quirky attitudes of the characters and does a superb job at describing the scenery.
Another one I caught today. Never heard of the writer, which is one of the main things I love about bookcrossing, I keep finding books I never heard of.

A very good read, with beautiful descriptions of the surroundings. I lost the plot a bit in the end, but that didn't bother me.

My choice from the First Sentences VBB has arrived and it sure looks promising! It's an English translation of a novel originally published in Norwegian, and the postcard which accompanied it, though a print of a Japanese work of art, reminded my of one of my favourite illustrators - Kay Nielsen's work - who was also a Norwegian! This book seems to have won many awards, so I think I've made a good choice! Thanks Marsala, for promptly sending it to me and for the lovely postcard!
ETA: (June, 2011) I've read the book, and I think it may have lost a bit in translation. It was a little slow for me, not exactly my kind of book, but I can see how it may suit other tastes.
