Like Water for Chocolate
5 journalers for this copy...
I have read this book twice, 5 years ago and earlier this year. This is a third copy I've run to - and had to rescue it from one of my favorite charity stores in Cork.
I love the story...

I was VERY surprised today when I came home and found this book in my mailbox. Had no idea...
When I opened the envelope, I still did not have a clue. And looking at the release date, it made me turn the envelope upside down, to see if the book had indeed travelled nearly a year...
Well, it was a bit less ;-) solskinn: thank you for sending it to me and keeping your promise

I am sending this book as a surprise RABCK to a person who has it on her wishlist. I already have a copy, that one was sent to me in the time this book was on its way over to me. That's the one I'll be reading and reviewing sometime later this year.

This was quite an unusual book, I think I liked it.. The story was easy to read, but also sad at times. There were some interesting recipes there (though they sounded rather complicated :p), and the preparation was described in the story. I did find that a bit distracting sometimes. And I hadn't expected the bits of magic (realism?) actually (not sure what to think of it, I didn't really dislike it..). The ending was a bit strange (and sad), however I don't think a different ending would be right. Poor John though..
Thanks Totje/Boekentrol for sharing the book with me (*waves* I like your new name ^_^)
