Once one of Italy's most promising young painters, the years have not treated Tullio d'Attore's career kindly. His love of early Renaissance art has brought him not the breath of inspiration but a devoted following of tourists, for whom he acts as a guide.
As another Tuscan summer begins, Tullio's friends plot to revive his artistic reputation, while a strange young man, Giuliano Amadei, takes an apartment in the Palazzo Lanzi.
