A great story of how an aggressively unambitious man winds up becoming the mayor of a "town" and a reluctant, unlikely hero. Not to mention a pretty fair and unconventional love story. I turned the last page with a warm feeling for the characters of the book, and an appreciation for the author's imagination. Every time I drive Highway 281 near Mineral Wells I look around for the remnan'ts of "Hoolian".
A preface to the book put it pretty well:
Under an oak, in stormy weather,
I joined this rogue and whore together;
And none but he who reules the thunder
Can put this rogue and whore asunder
Author: Jonathan Swift

"The Tentmaker" was given to me by my sister who found it in a local restaurant.This is an awesome thing to do with a book. Something which can change someone's life, the way they think, or just supply them with a few hours of entertainment. I'm going on a trip to New York City. I plan to read it there and then drop it off. Maybe on the plane ride back or in some restaurant. Just so that it can influence another. I'm so excited. I can't wait to see what "The Tentmaker" has in store for me. Well book, you've made it from Dallas to Killeen-now maybe New York!!!
