On 17 May 2009, BCinDC met up with the ABXC (Audubon, PA BookCrossing Club) at the Book Thing and shared a meal at Kosher Bite.

This is one of the books that I chose from the Book Thing. I had to keep my selections somewhat limited since I rode to Baltimore with KateKintail and didn't have the entire van to fill.

I like to pick up books that will make good releases or that I might want to read some day and I will be passing this book along eventually.

From the back cover (of one edition):

Audrina Adare wanted so to be as good as her sister. She knew her father could not love her as he loved her sister. Her sister was so special, so perfect - and dead.

Now she will come face to face with the dangerous, terrifying secret that everyone knows.

Everyone except ...

My Sweet Audrina

I read a different copy of this book in July 2005 amd here are my thoughts from that time.

This must be one of the most sick and twisted books that I have ever read. I can only describe the passage of time in the first part of the book as bizarre. Very strange and curious the way that the adults behaved.

There were always secrets to be discovered and it seemed like one secret always led to another secret.

The strange puzzlement with 9 was odd. Seemed really strange that on the 9th day of the 9th month something bad happened to a 9 year old girl.

I disliked most of the characters in the book. The women were weak and needy but manipulative to get their way. The father was sneaky and coniving, a cheat and a liar. And the adulterous coward Arden was a pleasure to dislike.

I almost felt sorry for Audrina until I learned that she was making her own bed and I am almost pleased knowing that she is going to have to now lie in it.

I hope that the finder of this book reads it and enjoys it.
