Dreaming Down Under, an anthology labelled "the most important anthology of Australian speculative fiction ever published". Contributors include some of Australia's best-known writers of speculative fiction: Simon Brown, Sean Williams, Isobelle Carmody, Jane Routley, Rosaleen Love, Stephen Paulsen, Terry Dowling, Andrew Enstice, Damien Broderick, Stephen Dedman, Wynne Whiteford, Cherry Wilder, Paul Brandon, Tess Williams, Sean McMullen and Dirk Strasser. This is a showcase of the very best contemporary 'wild-side fiction' (those stories that have an edge of horror, or fantasy, or magical realism) and the very best genre fiction - science fiction, fantasy, and horror.
Originally published in hardback, the paperback version was published in two volumes (cos one volume would have been to fat!). This is volume one.

This is a bit patchy in places, but overall a solid anthology of Australian SF. My favorite stories were:
Entre les Beaux Morts en Vie (Among the Beautiful Living Dead), Sean Williams
Real Men, Rosaleen Love
He Tried to Catch the Light, Terry Dowling
The Womb, Damien Broderick
(all from authors who are pretty big hitters in Australian SF). Happily, I'm reading Volume Two now and it seems even better!!
