This is an arc copy.

The first half of the book is written by Starrs, and basically a transcript of all the people who tesitfied for the Coroner's inquest and how they all think Lewis's body should be exhumed and looked over by a forensic anthropologist to see if Lewis died by homocide, suicide or some form of disease/illness (alcohol or Syphillis). At the end of this section the Coroner approves the exhumation.

The next section (by Gale) is an examination of the letters of people who knew Lewis at the time, supposed witnesses and documents that Lewis had written before he died. There is a list of people who likely killed Lewis and why; what the person's motive would be to do so(although the back cover specifically says that General James Wilkinson, Govenor of the Louisiana was the number one suspect).

There is no report on how the exhumation went, what the foresnic anthropologist thought (suicide vs homocide vs undetermined) or if the authors planned on updating the book after the athropologist's report was made. Very, very unsatisfying and frustrating not knowing the results!! It seemed like they used circumstanctial evidence for why either author decided to go with the Homicide verdict, and not what they found on the body.
