The 19th Wife: A Novel

This is two parallel stories of polygamy. The first recounts Brigham Young's expulsion of one of his wives, Ann Eliza, from the Mormon Church; the second is a modern-day murder mystery set in a polygamous compound in Utah. Unfolding through an impressive variety of narrative forms—Wikipedia entries, academic research papers, newspaper opinion pieces—the stories include fascinating historical details
While definitely entertaining it got a little bogged down with the academic stuff. The story of Ann Eliza Young was an interesting counterpoint to Jordan's story.

The book has arrived safely in Upper Hutt, New Zealand as part of the Southern Cross Book Exchange. I've had a quick browse through and must say it looks absolutely fascinating, no doubt that is why it was on my Wish List. 606 pages! Wow!
Thanks so much AmberC. I'm delighted.

I truly enjoyed this book and hopefully have a slightly better understanding of the multiple wife life style. Not for me I'm certain - too late anyway even it it had appealed.
I'm lending this to my daughter-in-law who really prefers true stories rather than made up ones. I think she'll like it.
