The Return of the King
4 journalers for this copy...
Part three of the Lord of the Rings
I'm putting this in jsmeltsers 1001 book box.
I have a copy of this book here in my permanent collection; at some point in the past I also registered a second copy.
I'm quite surprised to realize I never actually reviewed the book. I think I last read it in 2003-2004? I seem to remember finding the last book of the series overlong and draggy, but maybe I just lack the patience required for such a comprehensive, deep fantasy novel. I also wonder how many people read the appendices - I skimmed them for the most part, but they make up almost half of the last book so next time I dive into this series, I guess I'll read 'em.
Putting back into the 1001 Book Box.

How funny!
This book was last journaled by me nearly a year ago, but it hasn't been with me all this time. I mailed it out last May in the 1001 Bookbox and visited at least five other people in the interval, including these BookCrossers:
- Oldbroad
- gomboggit
- angieaustin
- waterfalling
- jsmeltser
How funny! I hope the book has better luck finding a master this round!

This book enjoyed a brief visit in San Jose, CA before continuing its journey with jsmeltser's 1001 Books Bookbox!

Picked out of jsmeltser's 1001 Book Box.
As with the previous two books in this series; I do find they go quicker than when I first watched the films but the films are better are showing what the characters look like and the locations that they travel to. I found that having seen the films first I was able to imagine the characters better. However, the books have a lighter and less menacing feel to them than the films, which is more to my taste.
That's another 1001 read knocked off the list.

Thank you so much for sending me this. I feel by my age I should really have read them or watched the films! Not sure how it passed me by!
