The Resurrectionist
3 journalers for this copy...
Interesting for the background and scene setting. I wasn't as keen on the story, but it was worth reading for the narrative and writing.
I took this home from Bongalonga's hen party. Thanks JudeMc.
Now read!
I wish I'd read this book more slowly - it's one of those books that you need to know how to read. The first two thirds of the book are set in London in 1826. The atmosphere of the city was nicely matched by the general descent of our 'hero' into opium addiction, night time living and dead bodies. (Although living in Camden it seems odd to have described the route from Camden Town to Kentish Town as being through green fields).
Then towards the end the location shifts and the story shifts from London to NSW from grave robbing to painting birds - but the dark undertone resists the open Australian skies and never ending sunshine.
It was about that stage that i started wishing i'd read the book more slowly to savour the words - the front cover has a quote from the author of the book thief 'James Bradley's words are still with you'.
Then of course there is the many different forms of resurrection...
Don't try and race through this one as cheap entertainment, savour it, it'll come across much better

WILD RELEASE NOTES:
Released into the newly created bookcrossing zone, fingers crossed that it works.
UPDATE
Decided against that plan as there is already a book swap place upstairs - so I have now released it at the West Hampstead book crossing group night instead

Hello, my friend (who first registered this book) & I were wondering whether your journal entry was because you had just picked the book up or were about to drop it off again? Whether you are intending to read it in future or just haven't fancied it? Thanks

I must say I find this website clunky and confusing to use.
I just picked up the book last week at the Hampstead bookcrossing meetup. I'm not sure if I will read it or just pass it on. I have so many books to read!
