I think I am the last person on the planet to read Harry Potter, but thanks to JollyL, I'm about to rectify that situation and restore order to the universe! Thank you, JollyL!
This is a delightful book, but it's very hard to see how an international phenomenon was started by it. Harry himself remains somewhat of a cipher through the book, unusual for a major character. I hope that in later books, he is more fully written. My favorite characters were Hagrid and Snape. Snape, I think, because of the wonderful movie portrayal by Alan Rickman, rather than the writing in this book.
This book goes on to another bookcrosser who has never read any of the Harry Potter books, and then on to another. Sort of a mini-ray. We will slowly restore order to the universe, one reader at a time.
NOTE: 8/21/03 This is now a ray! It turns out that there is more to restoring the balance of the universe than just 1 or 2 readers after all! PM me if you'd like to join! Here is the tentative mailing order:

It was great fun to read again the first book in the Harry Potter series. I am trying to re-read all of them before I start on book 5. I enjoyed reading this book as it was meant to be published (the correct title and all). Now I will read book 2 again and so on.
Thank you so much 16stepper for sending this book out!

I received this in the mail Friday. October 10, 2003. Thanks, kbgoffe! I will post more after reading, then pass on the next person in the BookRay.
Have sent several PMs to Janbur regarding the status of this bookray without reply. I will begin looking for another copy if I don't hear back soon.
Am declaring this bookray officially dead and restarting with a new copy thanks to KarinAlyssa and the book relay site. See my profile for the new link.
