When she was an 18 year old freshman at Syracuse, the author was attacked, beaten and brutally raped in the tunnel to an amphitheatre. Months later, while walking down a street near the Syracuse campus, she recognized her rapist and reported him to police.
This emotionally gripping and brutally honest memoir describes the rape, the trial, Alice’s subsequent fifteen-year struggle with drug addiction and post-traumatic stress disorder, and how this experience changed her view of the world around her.

Saw this on ravencat's wishlist, and I'm sending it to her in New York as an RABCK. Hope you enjoy it!
Arrived today and perfect timing as I am leaving for vacation (Smoky Mountains) on Monday and was deciding what book to take along. So Lucky, you are off to Tennessee. Thanks so much pinklady 60 for this RABCK.
This was a very compelling memoir of Ms. Sebold's rape and trial and the haunting aftermath which changed her life and those around her. For me personally this story hit home as I was living in Syracuse during that time and had friends who attended the University so I was very familiar with the area and I do remember the news coverage surrounding the rape. Thank-you so much pinklady60 for sharing this book with me and am passing it along to my daughters to read.

Sent to biisbsw, the first participant in this bookray. Enjoy:)
I could have sworn that I journalled this book when I got it a little over a week ago...but I don't see it. So sorry. Anyway, I'm not quite halfway through this book. I will PM the next reader and, hopefully, get this out very shortly. Thanks for including me in this!
Just finished reading this. What a tragic story. I also have a strong connection with Syracuse as I grew up in a small town near there. I was too young to remember anything about this case. However, this is, unfortunately, not a unique occurrence.
Anyway on another note, I sent a PM to easterngirl71 last week but as I have not yet heard by I just sent another one. Hopefully I'll hear back from her soon so I can get this book on its way.

I have not had any luck getting easterngirl71's address despite several PM's over the last month. I had initially received a response that she had many TBR books and wanted to make sure the it was ok with ravencat if it took her a bit longer to read (which it was). Since then I have not gotten a response. So I am moving on and will, hopefully, get a response from han_cat soon. I will move this along as soon as I can get a reader's address.
Mailed off to han_cat, the next reader of the ray, today. Hope you enjoy it!
Arrived in the post today, half way through my current book and then I'll read it. So don't think it will be too long :)
Found this an incredibley brutal read, had to read it one sitting as I don't think there is any way I could have picked it up a second time. I am glad I have read it as I think it is a very thought provoking and importand read, but it wasn't enjoyable. I feel it has informed me a lot.
Have address so will be sending off to Finland shortly.

Sending to Norayah the next participant in the ring.
I was away for a few days and in the meanwhile this book has reached me.
