Enjoyable, but not quite the landmark novel the cover reviews led me to believe. Perhaps I'm missing something?

Anyway, I'm going to offer this as a ring to see what others think.

This is one of the most moving books I have ever read, and Leo Gursky has to be my favourite literary creation. I was already in tears by page 5 - the description of the moment when Leo encounters his old friend Bruno in a New York street, decades after he last saw him in Poland, is heartbreakingly beautiful.
The sections dealing with Leo are by far the most powerful, but the different stories blend very well together.
There is a twist at the end which I didn't see coming, and which was very affecting.
If you aren't moved by this book - which is as much about the history of loss as the history of love - then I don't think anything will do it for you.
Thanks so much for sharing this lovely book - it's now on its way to winterson.

Received safe and well last week. I've had a virus on my PC so struggled to log on and say it's here. I'm absolutely loving this book. Got about halfway through the book then turned back to page one and started again, I wanted to give it my full attention as it's so beautiful. Am about halfway through again now so will be able to send it on to continue its journey soon. I can't get enough of it and am off to amazon to buy myself a copy.

I can't rave about this book enough. It's just beautiful and I've ordered a copy for my PC. It's the kind of book that demands your full attention and deserves to be read over and over again. I really was bowled over by it.
Thank you so much for giving me the opportunity to read it, I feel like I have learnt something and been touched by the process of reading this book. Just gorgeous!
All packed up and on its way to the next on the list :)

I received this book this morning. I am just finishing my current read, so I will be able to start it tomorrow. After looking through the comments I can barely wait to start upon it, and I am really looking forward to what promises to be a great experience.
