I was unsure what to expect when picking this Sandra Dallas book up, but was pleasantly surprised to read about a Pioneer woman's strength and determination as she faces a new life with a new husband as she homesteads west in Colorado. Her new life and husband is less than ideal, and her resilience and experiences throughout are incredible. This does not read like a diary, but like a true story and kept me captivated throughout.
