Penelope Thornton-McClure manages a Rhode Island bookshop rumored to be haunted. When a bestselling author drops dead signing books, the first clue of foul play comes from the store's full-time ghost-a PI murdered on the very spot more than fifty years ago.

Is he a figment of Pen's overactive imagination? Or is the likable, fedora-wearing specter the only hope Pen has to solve the crime?

I really liked this book, not because it was the best mystery I have ever read, or it was the most exciting book in the world. I liked this book because it was just plain fun. It didn't require alot of thought, it is short and to the point. It is filled with humour, action, suspense and it does all this without vulgar language, guts all over the floor, and everyone sleeping with everyone else. This book could be read by young and old alike.
The plot is good, the idea is fresh and different from the usual mystery novel. The mental conversations between the main character and the ghost are great. I can't wait to read the next installment to see how the relationship between these two blossoms. The townsfolk remind me of a small town where everyone knows everyone else's business and everyone has an opinion.

Such a nice cozy mystery! Jack is a cute ghost, even if he tries to be politically incorrect and very forties-style! And there have been enough suspects to be not a boring mystery, even if there is not a lot of blood.
I am looking forward to reading the next books!

This series keeps popping up on my recommendations so I decided to take this, and the other three in the series, that I found at the OBCZ!
