This is one of the best books I've ever read. What an interesting character Janet Street-Porter is! I absolutely loved reading about her rather odd childhood, and the hypocritical behaviour of her parents, who certainly struggled in parenting Janet and didn't seem able to relate to her, or her to them for that matter, at all. When she reached her teenage years she was unfairly forced to move from Fulham to Perivale and it might aswell have been the end of the earth as far as Janet was concerned. Her life seemed to revolve around travelling to school, travelling back home again, travelling to meet her friends and to go to gigs, then spending an absolute age travelling back home and hoping her parents wouldn't give her too much grief for being late home, again! Janet knew she was going to be somebody from an early age and had lots of ambitions for the future. The stuff about the gigs and parties made me feel very envious. Oh, to be able to see The Rolling Stones and The Kinks before the made it big!! This was a really quick read and I finished it in three days. Now I'm looking forward to the next installment. A Highly HIGHLY recommended read :-)
