Picked up from the free shelf at the used book store yesterday. From the back cover:

There has never been a novel quite like Ragtims. It is the story of three remarkable American families--rich white, Harlem black, immigrant Jew--whose lives become intertwined with the likes of Henry Ford, Emma Goldman, Harry Houdini, J. P. Morgan, Theodore Dreiser, Sigmund Freud, and Emiliano Zapata. It is a novel rich in incident, astonishingly original in plot, stunning in its vivid descriptions, an absolute joy to read.

It is a chronical of the shimmering, shattering forces from all walks of American life that came together in wonder and terror, in an age when all things seemed possible, the age of Ragtime.

A novel for everyone--the big, spectacular bestseller that brought worldwide fame and magnificent acclaim to one of the most beloved writers of our time, E. L. Doctorow.

I finished this one some time ago but forgot to journal it. I found it to be readable and interesting.
