I love this book. A man approaches you as you sit at the table of a cafe in Lahore and proceeds to tell you his life story whch is a tale of love, passion and dissilution. Who the man is, or may be, and who you are, only becomes clear (er) in the final pages, and even then you are left with an open ending.

Taking to Leeds Bookcrossers.
Picked up at the Leeds Meetup - will try and read it soon!
Interesting contrast to the last book I read - The White Tiger, which is a first person narrative by an Indian and set in India. This Pakistani narrated novel has some similarities in that they both consider the tension between aspiration and achievement, but are very different too.
Mohsin Hamid writes beautifully & compassionately of the uneasy relationship between America and Pakistan (and America with the rest of the world), paralleled by Changez' relationship - and infatuation - with Erica. The novel is well paced, maintaining a suspense throughout.
A fine book.
Released at the Leeds Meetp in the PIN Bar tonight (finished reading it just before people statred arriving in the pub!)
