Yard sale find. Up for trade.

The journal picture was borrowed from a website which I will mention here. It sounds like a great organization... though a heartwrenching one.

What’s a bookray and how does it work?

A bookray is when a book passes from person to person based on the list of members involved. Preferably a bookray book is never released into the wild.

To join this bookray (or any other bookray of mine) please private message me. I will be glad to add you to the list. New members are added all of the time so be sure to check the list of participants before you mail the book to the next in line just in case!

Once you are a bookray member you will receive the book from the person listed before you. When you receive the book please make a journal entry stating that you’ve received it. Then read it as soon as you can (no absolute hurry, just be reasonable please :o), and journal again with your thoughts. You’ll then need to private message the person on the list after you for their address. Mail the book by media mail (it’s cheaper!), and make release notes on the book only if you’d like to. Then sit back and watch the continuing journey!

The members are as follows:

tania-in-nc (North Carolina) (journaled -- mailed to kbgoffe)
kbgoffe (Oregon)
jackshome (UK)

Hope you enjoy this image from the book --

Rain had begun to fall, and the drops on the thatched roof made a muffled patter. Amber felt wrapped in a cocoon of softness and cut-off from the march of time. p104

This evening I sent this book off to Oregon. Happy travels ...

Just got home from a vacation and was surprised to see how many books I received in the mail. Christmas in July!

I decided to place all the bookray/rings I received in order by postmark. Easiest way to figure out how to read them I decided.

I am really looking forward to reading this book. It is next after the following bookray/ring books:
CHICKEN POOP FOR THE SOUL

I will read as fast as I can! :)

When I received the bookray book, “Angel of Hope,” I realized that there was a book preceding it. Thankfully my awesome library it in, “Angel of Mercy.” I read both of these books while spending time with my mom in the hospital following her second surgery to remove cancer.

Both of these books were blessings. It might seem strange as both of these books deal with life and death but they were such a comfort.

In the first book, “Angel of Mercy,” I especially liked the message on page 50. Ian, from Scotland, and Heather, sister to Amber, are talking about dying. Here is what they have to say Ian goes first.

“Yes. But if I had died, then this morning I would have waked in a far better place for having crossed over.”

“Well, I’m not ready to ‘cross over’” she told him. “I’ve still got a lot of living to do.”

He laughed as if she’d just told him a funny joke. “Lass, we don’t choose when we get to cross over. God does. And for those who believe, it doesn’t matter which side of time we live on. This side, we do God’s work and spread his word to others, waiting for when he calls us home to heaven, where we will spend eternity with him. We lose our life in order to gain it.”

In the second book, “Angel of Hope” there were many more wonderful passages like the above that helped me. Even though my mom’s time might be shorter than we all thought there is no losing. She has always done God’s work on this earth. She is an inspiration to all of us who know and love her and there are so many of us!

Thank you so much pgsahm for sending out this bookray. I had no idea what a help it was going to be to me. I am sorry for taking so long to make this journal entry. My mom just came home yesterday and now I can relax some until she goes back in on the 5th to remove more cancer that has been found. I think I will check out some more books by Lurlene McDaniel for the next stay. Bless you pgsahm!

The picture is of the hospital I spent all my time at while reading this book. It truly is prettier than it looks.

I enjoyed the storyline of this book - it wasn't high paced of particularly descriptive of Africa, but none the less the characters are good and there's a strong sense of charity amungst the poor and rich alike. I was a bit miffed that we didn't find out the ins and outs of Heather's releationship with Ian and what he suffered from, or maybe my speed reading just missed that part ;)

Journal Entry 13 by kbgoffe from Beaverton, Oregon USA on Thursday, August 21, 2003
jackshome, if you can get your hand on a copy of the book "Angel of Mercy" you will find answers to all the questions you had. It is the first book in this series and is the story of Heather and Ian. I found a copy at my local library. I hope you can be as lucky. Take care!

Pick this up from the Malaysian-Bookcrossers meetup in December 2006. Will send it off to greener pastures soon.

Hey! just scrolled downwards and found out that Starbytes was the Malaysian receivor of this book and the earlier reviews sounds extremely promising...
Will pass it on during a craft group meetup!
