The mail man surprised me early this morning and what a surprise it turned out to be! All weird and wonderful things along with a wishlist book! Thank you so much Nattabee! This is really appreciated! And yes, the city is absolutely correct - although I could confuse you a bit more by telling that you could have used the Swedish version of the name too, Åbo :D Try finding that in your keyboards ;)

A really strong and vivid story but with a doomed feeling all over it right from the first page. I was amazed how easily the story evolved just around one household, without much taking account of the surrounding community. The short glimpses to the post office or to the coffee reception were quite revealing, though. What's more amazing, how could one single person isolate a whole family from the community and tangle it into lifelong secrecy and misery. I absolutely hated Amanda, hated her overwhelming character and the way she controlled everyone else around her. And that's what she did, controlled, she didn't love. She didn't dare to live, didn't want anyone else to live either. A horrible person with a distorted sense of reality. After Amanda's actions and personality, what else could I have felt for anyone else in the story but compassion. I just wanted to rip them off from their situation, give them space to breathe. I was so glad to see Carl taking a job that took him to new surroundings, but gutted when Ruth made him come back to the farm. Unfortunately this might be a story quite close to truth in many families, villages and countries around the world. An insular person forcing the world to be of their liking, contorting the truth.
