Andorra ist ein Drama von Max Frisch, das im November 1961 im Schauspielhaus Zürich uraufgeführt wurde. Das Stück hat Antisemitismus, Feigheit und vor allem die Identität eines Menschen zum Thema.
Es handelt von einem jungen Mann, der, weil außerehelich und von einer Ausländerin geboren, von seinem Vater als jüdischer Pflegesohn ausgegeben wurde. Ihm wird so oft mit Vorurteilen begegnet, dass er später sogar dann, als man ihm die Wahrheit sagt, an seiner ihm ursprünglich zugewiesenen Identität festhält, und der am Schluss von einem rassistischen Nachbarvolk als Jude ermordet wird. Seine Landsleute, die all das geschehen lassen, rechtfertigen ihre Feigheit später damit, die Wahrheit über seine Identität zu spät erfahren zu haben.
Der Titel des Stücks „Andorra“, zugleich Name des fiktiven Staates, in dem das Stück spielt, hat nichts mit dem realen Kleinstaat Andorra zu tun; „Andorra ist der Name für ein Modell“, so Max Frisch am Anfang des Stücks. Er selbst hat diesen Namen später als Notlösung bezeichnet. „Der bessere fiel mir nicht ein. Schade! Was den Kleinstaat Andorra betrifft, tröste ich mich mit dem Gedanken, dass er kein Heer hat, um die Länder, die das Stück spielen, aus Missverständnis überfallen zu können.“ (Quelle: wikipedia)

I was surprised today to receive this book as a bonus with other books sent through BookMooch. Very nice. Thanks a lot!
As all books I received from you are in excellent condition, I will enjoy reading and keeping them for a while. I think I already have a copy of this play, but that book is stacked away in a box in the attic of my parents' home. I bought that book many years ago, when I lived in Germany. I lived in Ludwigsburg, near Stuttgart.
I have read most of Max Frisch' novels, but none of the plays. I will keep this book with me in Beijing until the time I can bring over that other copy I have. Then, I will probably release this copy. It is hard to say when and where to that will be.
As you can see, I already am a member of BookCrossing, since 2003. I do not label and release my own books, but I do register books I receive and / or pass on.
